Many just make a very successful tele-drama debut or make a hit music single and never continue down the same line.
Today we meet Alanki, a beautiful lady who has managed to sustain her place in Sri Lanka’s entertainment industry due to her dedication and stability. She is a respected and talented individual in the industry with many stories to tell.
Alanki , for nearly a decade you have been seen around in the industry. What is your secret of sustainability?
I was invited for commercials and advertisements from a very young age.. But it has been only about 6 years since I started acting. I guess my secret of sustainability in my career has been the fact that I was always selective in my work.. Sometimes people would take up acting offers just to make quick fame.. But I always chose from the heart. I would always get involved in a project only if I felt that I could do justice to my character. I believe in quality and not quantity in whatever I do, whether it be my studies, personal life or acting. I guess that is my secret!
I was invited to sing by several well-known and professional artistes (singers, musicians) but I never pursued it. I love music and appreciate good music but never felt a calling for singing.
When would you think of giving up acting?
I don’t know if I would say goodbye to acting. Maybe when I am a mother or if I get involved in professional work related to my law degree.. However, whatever I do, I might at least try to make one appearance in a project at least once a year just for my love for cinema and the arts. So there will never be a goodbye.. Hopefully! But if God has other plans for me, then I will!
Do you feel Sri Lanka fosters a good and well paid entertainment industry?

When it comes to modelling we have seen you in few high profile shoots. Do you have a criteria when you go into modelling?
I don’t know if I consider myself as a model.. I don’t do ramp modelling.. Mostly it’s photo shoots or advertisement campaigns.. But I am very selective and always make sure I get into something of high standard. Eventually people will see you and recognise you according to the projects you have taken part in.
What would be your dream role and dream co-star , if you got invited to star in a Bollywood movie and why?
When do you think you can reveal prince charming to your fans?
Good question, but I will reveal prince charming when the time is right. It’s a bit uncomfortable to reveal personal information when you are in this industry as it can be used against you. But if I am pretty confident that I have found 'the one', then yes I will be very open about it. But to be honest, I am completely single now and who says you need a man?
