She is a reserved individual and she is determined to make her mark in the Miss World Finale, scheduled to be held on September 28 at the Sentul International Convention Centre, Sentul and Nusa Dua, Indonesia.
You have participated in 4 pageants before this. Did the experience you gained from those competitions help you to win Miss Sri Lanka this year?
Every pageant I went made me a stronger person and helped me to overcome many mistakes. Also the confidence I built up was invaluable.
Are you getting any offers or opportunities for singing, acting etc.?
Yes, I am happy that I am getting many invitations to take part in the entertainment field. I have to accept that I can’t sing, but I just love acting. Right now I am contributing to a movie named “Agni Warsha” which will be screened soon. I am looking forward to be in many other movies. I actually like to be in movies more than being in tele-dramas.
What is your biggest strength, which you think contributed to you winning this year’s title?
We need a mixture of height, beauty and confidence to take part in an international level pageant. And I am thankful that I had them in me. Anyway the biggest strength that made me the winner is my confidence.
In the beginning I had those issues from my two elder brothers. But my father was very understanding and he gave me permission to take part in the pageant. My family and I understand that there is lots of travelling, late night shoots, conferences involved. I believe you need to have self discipline too.
Are you well prepared for the grand finale?
I know I have a huge responsibility as I am representing my country. So everything has to be perfect. I feel I am ready but I have many things which need to be corrected. I have one month to prepare anyway, so I will do my best to get ready.
It’s a huge task as it is a world class competition. Like I said in your earlier question, I am trying to overcome any shortcomings I have. And I am keeping constant pressure on myself as well. All I can ask my fans, my friends and the people of Sri Lanka is to keep your fingers crossed and pray.
