Lite Miss Universe Sri Lanka 2013
The Lite Miss Universe Sri Lanka 2013 preliminary mini pageants took place at the Ranweli Holiday Village in Negombo at which the top ten contestants battled it out for the titles ‘Miss Photogenic’ and ‘Miss Glowing Skin’, followed by a cocktail party where the contestants took the ramp for the final time and showcased all the hard work they have put in since early August.
The afternoon was dedicated to swim suit photo shoots and shoots at various scenic locations in the hotel premises itself.
Speaking on the preparation leading up to the event, the National Director of the event Rosita Wickremesinghe says that though it has been a harrowing task to put it all together it’s a just reward to see the final production.
“It’s a really good feeling when it all comes together and runs smoothly. This is the latest of many events that I have done so I’ve seen a lot over the years, but the standout feature this time is that the contestants are younger than usual but no less capable.”
The event was choreographed by the acclaimed choreographer Lou Ching Wong who divulged yet again the tricks of the trade that he had picked up over 20 years of being in the business, and added that he had an enjoyable time working with the ladies.
“When you do something for over 20 years you pick up more than a few things and that’s what we try to give back time and time again. We have been very fair and devoted an equal amount of time to all the contestants. Some were very raw when they started out but have shown remarkable improvement to be able to take a stage like this.”
The finals of the pageant will take place on 14 September at the Mount Lavinia Hotel where the eventual Miss Universe Sri Lanka will be crowned.
