Sanya is one of the hottest, hippest and trendiest Tamil actresses in India. She speaks English, French, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu and Punjabi very fluently.

I also learned that she has trained in many disciplines such as martial arts, dancing, and acting staying true to what she claims “I want to be the best in what I do”.

Sanya has been featured in many hot and spicy photo shoots for some of India’s most popular magazines and commercials and she keeps on working closely with their local film industry.

Let’s get to know her more intimately shall we?

What’s your life’s biggest achievement?

Getting a break in a movie with a lead role (heroine) in the south; the movie has been completed and is due for release this year. I consider this my biggest achievement because it gave me a lot of exposure and experience. Acting is my passion since childhood and every drop of blood strives in me to give the best performance. 24 X 7 I think about acting. My morale was boosted and my dream came true when I got selected for a Tamil movie, it’s a love story with the great story line where I play a very simple, innocent, cute village girl, the selection was based only on my acting performance and this is greatest achievement of my life; the seeds sown in acting have reaped their benefits.

As a Tamil actress in our neighbouring country India, what have you heard about us Sri Lankans?

The first thing which comes to my mind is the Sri Lankan cricket team and I consider them as one of the best teams in the world. My favourite player is Muttiah Muralitharan. Your country is very impressive, as it is also the only country in South Asia that is currently rated 'high' on the Human Development Index.. Also your Island is VERY FAMOUS for its beaches and that’s one huge reason I want to visit as I love clean pristine beaches.

You have worked in Channel V Truth Love Cash 2  and MTV’s Girl’s Night Out, what was your experience like participating in these international TV shows?

It was one of the greatest experiences and inspired me a lot to work further in the industry. It was my stepping stone for my career and I enjoyed it a lot by sharing the screen with Ranvijjay, VJ Andy, VJ Yudhishtir, Pravesh Rana etc. I take my work very seriously and love to work harder on my acting skills, dialog delivery, camera angles and directions. Facing the camera daily gives me more confidence and dedication towards my goal. I believe in being a versatile actress like Sridevi, Rekha and Smita Patil, I am a great admirer of these legends.

We know India has many talented actresses just like you.  You had training from Roshan Taneja School of Acting, Saroj Khan Dance Academy for 7 years and Theatre Acting Vishnudas Bhave, Mumbai. Tell me about the experience. Do you feel India has all the support you need to become a good actress?

I believe that even if you are a born actor, getting the basics right is the most important thing. These training schools helped me polish myself. After being professionally trained in acting, dancing, theatre, karate, martial arts, voice modulation, how to face the camera and so on, I now feel as though I have groomed myself well and I am ready for action.

India welcomes talent not only from its own country but from across the world. For example we have Katrina Kaif from London and Jacqueline Fernandez who is from Sri Lanka and is doing very well in the film industry. My complete dedication and sincerity to my modelling and acting skills will definitely take me there soon.

Some of the shoots you have done seem sensual. Is the home front OK with these types of shoots? (since India is very traditional)

Yes but it all depends. I love to do all kinds of shoots because I believe in being a versatile actress and in being flexible.. .there is a difference between being bold and glamorous and vulgarity and my parents know that I am always very keen and dedicated to my work and they appreciate that I don’t have any filmy background or a Godfather in the industry and that I am trying my level best to survive in this competitive industry.

What does the future hold for you?

I have dreams and I want to be the best in what I do such as modelling and acting. I want to devote my time and energy to be the best in the industry.
