Raigam Tele’es Most popular actress award

Agitation is spreading among the teledrama artists regarding Asha Edirisinghe receiving the award for the most popular actress at Raigam Tele Awards.

They have expressed serious doubt regarding the decision as the particular actress has only appeared in one teledrama telecasted in ITN television channel.

However, throughout the 9 years history of Raigam Tele’es the decision on the most popular actress has always been questioned.

The teledrama actress, dancer and presenter Nehara Peiris was awarded the most popular actress from year 2008 to 2011.

It was presumed that she was awarded as the most popular actress because she had signed a 4 years agreement with Kingdom of Raigam, the main sponsor of the award ceremony, as their brand ambassador.

Asha was thus awarded due to her relationship with the executive producers of the award ceremony, learns ‘Sri Lanka Mirror’.

Dr. Ravi Liyanage Chairman of The Kingdom of Raigam is the founder of the Raigam Tele Awards.
